Signing Checks With Sign-It!

Question:

Can Sign-It! be used to sign checks in Intuit’s Quicken, Quickbooks, or MS Money?

Answer:

Currently, Quicken and Quickbooks does not allow any customization of the data printed on the check (e.g. ability to insert a graphic such as a signature). Sign-It! will work with any other application which allows you to insert text and change the font to your signature font.

A workaround to the Quicken and Quickbooks limitation is to create a document with just your signature in it (create in Word or WordPerfect). The signature must be positioned such that by printing a sheet of checks the signature will print in the proper location. Then after printing the checks in Quicken/Quickbooks, run the checks through the printer a second time printing the document with just your signature. This two step process also has the inherent security feature that the final printing of the signature can be controlled by a proper authorized individual (who possesses the signature font), whereas other staff can print the checks (w/o signatures).

We currently do not know the capabilities of MS Money to sign checks. If the application allows a graphic to be inserted and positioned for the check printing or if text can be inserted and the font changed (to your signature font) then it will work. As a fallback, the above described two step process will definitely work.
