MS Word 2000/XP – Enabling Macros to Install Sign-It! Macro
Issue:
When loading the file SignWd97.dot to install the Sign-It! Macros in Word 2000 nothing happens.
Solution:
The SignWd97.dot file uses a Word macro to install the Sign-It! Macro. Previously, in Word 97 a warning dialog appears to warn you that the file SignWd97.dot contains macros and asks for confirmation to continue. In Word 2000 the macro protection has been increased to NOT run any macros within documents unless they are properly authenticated. The Word 2000 macro protection feature must be temporarily changed to allow the SignWd97.dot file to install the Sign-It! Macro. To install the Sign-It! Macro:
1. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security.
2. Click the Security Level tab, and then select the Medium security level. The Word 2000 default is High. This security level provides the same warning dialog as seen in Word 97.
3. Load the SignWd97.dot file into Word 2000. Follow the instructions to complete the installation of the Sign-It! Macro.
Follow steps (1) and (2) to return the macro security level to the desired level.
