Using Your Logo Font and MS Word Letterhead Template
Logo Font Installation:
Your logo font comes complete with the Sign-It Signature Server Utility and may be installed by simply running the Setup.exe program on the floppy. In cases where you may already have installed Sign-It! (with your personalized signature font), you may still install the logo font, but the defaults for the Signature Server will be set to the most recently installed font (e.g. the logo font). If you do not wish the default to be changed or you do not wish to use the Signature Server Utility, you may install the logo font directly. The logo font is like any other TrueType font and may be installed using the standard Windows font installation procedures.
For Windows 95 / NT 4.0:
Open the Windows Explorer (or any file window) by clicking on the Start Button, choosing Programs and then select Windows Explorer. In the left most Folder windows click on the floppy drive (with the Sign-It! diskette inserted into the disk drive). The right side files windows should list all the files contained on the floppy disk. The logo font file name is listed on the label of the floppy disk and you should be able to find the file in the file window (e.g. Logo.ttf).
Bring up the Fonts folder by clicking on the Start Button, choosing Settings and then select Control Panel. The Control Panel will appear with various control panel icons including Fonts. Double click on the Fonts folder, a listing of all fonts installed on your system will be displayed. Now, going back to the Windows Explorer, click on the logo font file and while continuing to hold down the mouse button, drag the logo font to the Fonts folder, release the mouse button. After a couple of seconds the font should be installed and listed in the Fonts folder. Close the Fonts Folder and Windows Explorer
MS Word Letterhead Template Installation:
Your logo font may have been ordered with a Letterhead template built for use with MS Word. The template file is contained on the floppy diskette and should be named LogoFontName.dot. To install the template file, first determine the location of the MS Word templates. The location can be found by clicking on the Tools menu and selecting Options. Click on the File Locations tab and write down the path for the User Templates (e.g. C:\MSOFFICE\TEMPLATES). Now copy the template file from the floppy diskette to the templates location.
Using the Letterhead Template:
Once the letterhead template file is installed, from the File menu select New. A listing of all available templates will be displayed. For a normal blank document you normally would select Blank Document. To use the letterhead template file select the icon with the name of your template file with the Create New field set to Document. A blank document is brought up with your letterhead as the background. To see the entire letterhead with your text, click on the View menu and select Page Layout to see the entire page. The letterhead template along with your Sign-It! signature font make a great combination for sending out professional looking personalized computer faxes.
Editing the Letterhead Template:
The letterhead template file is essentially a Word document that can be easily modified. To edit the file, click on the File menu and select Open. Change the path to the location of your template files and select Document Templates in the Files of Type field. Select your letterhead template file, the file will be opened for editing. You now may change text, fonts, logos, etc. Make sure you are viewing the file in Page Layout mode to see the entire page. Typically, the letterhead elements are positioned in the headers and footers of the template file. Click on the File menu and select Save to store your edits, and then close the template file.
